Trauma-Focused Sensory Integration Programme
This is an online programme designed for parents and caregivers of adopted children, and is a direct result of the work we have been doing over the last five years.
The programme addresses the difficulties experienced when foundational sensory and motor systems are not working well. This is a typical finding in children who have experienced early life trauma, including neglect or abuse in infancy, but is also valuable for all children as there can be gaps in these areas of development related to modern lifestyles, such as spending too much time in a car seat or other type of infant container.
You will be provided with background knowledge and guided through how to use a variety of motor and sensory tools to bring an experience of body-based felt safety. You will also learn how to track your child’s responses and be given advice on how to adapt the tools where needed
The sessions are intended to be relational and relaxed in their approach. We are aware some of the subject matter can be challenging and touches on early life trauma, and we therefore focus on the repair and recovery, and maintain a stance that trauma is something that can be overcome with the right knowledge support and interventions.
